The Souq is a halal food discovery product built by Yemma Labs. Community verification and ongoing data pipelines support a directory intended to keep listings useful and honest.
The trust problem
A food directory is only as helpful as the information behind it. For halal diners, a broad category label is not enough when listings can be incomplete, stale, or unclear. The product therefore has to treat data quality and community knowledge as part of the customer experience.
Community verification
The Souq incorporates community verification so listing trust is not reduced to a one-time import. The model recognizes that local knowledge changes and that the people using a directory can help keep it accountable.
Data pipelines behind the interface
Data pipelines support the flow and maintenance of listing information. The public interface and the data operation are part of the same product: discovery only works when the system behind it can keep supplying useful records.
